Already in 1931 Filomena Walch welcomed guest from all over the world with genuine hospitality – a very special value for us. The Hotel****s Gotthard represents home, a holiday resort to relax and a perfect starting point to explore the terrific village Lech – in winter and summer alike.

History - the Cafe Gotthard with staff and guests from England

Our roots, our life, our actions

The beginnings were difficult and four young children were hungry during the period between the two world wars in 1931. It was the time when the widow Philomena Walch decided to open a bakery with café and guesthouse with 8 beds. In 1948 her son Vinzenz took over the enterprise.

In the 1960ies the enterprise started to flourish and several renovation and extension works were conducted. In 1990 Clemens took over the bakery and the then Hotel Central with 36 beds. In May 2000 Clemens and Nicole bought the house of the parents and extended the Gotthard to the modern 4*s hotel in the heart of Lech which it is today.

For more than 85 years now guests from all over the world experience unforgettable winter holidays in Lech am Arlberg. The Hotel Gotthard is already run by the third generation with much passion and hospitalty. Although there were several renovations and modernisations, the hotel preserved its traditional character.

Lech and especially the Hotel Gotthard have always attracted guests from all over the world. Many of our guests have already spent their holidays in Lech with our parents at the Gotthard and they still feel at home today – every time anew.

Also in our hotel we virtually hand over the room key from generation to generation. We are very proud to be your hosts and we appreciate your long lasting loyalty and friendship also in difficult times.

All loyal guests who have spent their holidays in Lech for at least 10 years get a loyalty badge as a present for their year long loyalty. At regular intervals our Hotel Gotthard and Lech Zürs also celebrate a special week for regular guests with a great programme for all loyalty pin holders.
